Going solar in Wooloowin
Brisbane's northside ranges from the grand old homes of Ascot, Hamilton and Clayfield to family suburbs like Aspley, Chermside and Bracken Ridge and the bayside villages of Sandgate and Shorncliffe.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Wooloowin is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Many Wooloowin homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Wooloowin: history and local area
Holy Cross Primary was teaching children here by 1889. When the Methodist church was being built, a cyclone flattened it, so it was rebuilt and opened in 1902. The state school followed in September 1914. The name may come from an Indigenous word for a pigeon or a type of fish. In October 2015 the northern part split away to become Kalinga.
Heritage homes are the standout, from Victorian and Federation houses to interwar cottages and flats, all about six kilometres north-north-east of the city. Shaw Park hosts Norths Rugby and the Northern Suburbs District Cricket Club. Trains stop at both Wooloowin and Eagle Junction stations, and the State Emergency Service has its headquarters here.
Federation and interwar houses often have steep, multi-faced roofs, so a careful layout across several roof planes usually gives better results than squeezing everything onto one face.
