Going solar in Hollywell
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Hollywell is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Being close to the water, Hollywell gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Hollywell: history and local area
Joseph Wood Proud, mayor of Southport from 1934 to 1948, named his home here after his old house in England, and the suburb took the same name. A 1926 map shows the district as Pine Ridge, a name still carried by the conservation park and Pine Ridge Road. Today about 2,930 people live in this small Broadwater suburb of 2.9 km².
Hollywell is residential apart from its south-western quarter, which forms part of Pine Ridge Conservation Park and runs south into Runaway Bay. The eastern edge reaches into the Broadwater, with Runaway Bay Marina tucked into the south-east corner. Council boat ramps on Centenary Drive at Jasmine and Holly Avenues make it easy to launch, and the local fire station is on Bayview Street.
Homes near the Broadwater deal with salt in the air, and those backing onto the conservation park may have taller trees close by, so both corrosion-rated gear and a proper shade check are worth including.
