Going solar in Coombabah
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Coombabah is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Coombabah: history and local area
Coombabah Lake and Creek give the suburb its name, from Bundjalung words in the Ngaraangbal dialect meaning place of the wood grubs. Early schools came and went with work crews, including one for public works families in 1887 and one for railway workers' children at Acrobat Creek from 1889 to 1890. The state primary school opened in 1981, the high school in 1986, and council declared the conservation area in 1994.
Wetland is the defining feature. The Coombabah Lakelands are Ramsar listed, one of only five such sites in Queensland, and Coombabah Lake Conservation Park has about 10 km of tracks and boardwalks plus a bird hide off Shelter Road. Homes, roads and businesses wrap around the reserve. Coombabah State School is on Oxley Drive and the high school on Pine Ridge Road.
Houses bordering the wetlands and reserve can pick up shade from tall vegetation, so it is worth mapping the sun path over each roof, and low-lying sites near the lake should keep batteries and inverters well above ground.
