Going solar in Kirra
The southern Gold Coast stretches from Coolangatta and the beaches of Palm Beach and Burleigh back to Robina, Mudgeeraba and the valleys of Currumbin and Tallebudgera, with everything from beachfront units to acreage.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Kirra is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Being close to the water, Kirra gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Kirra: history and local area
Kirra was seldom visited by Europeans before 1840, and holidaymakers only began arriving after that. In April 1914, 18 residential and business sites went under the hammer, and the opening of the South Coast Road in the 1930s made family camping popular. The name comes from Kirra Hill, which first appears on an 1883 survey plan and is believed to be Indigenous, though its meaning is unconfirmed.
Kirra is a beachside neighbourhood within Coolangatta. Kirra Point, a small rocky headland, divides Kirra Beach from Coolangatta Beach and is a famous surf break, although sand pumping from the Tweed River mouth since 2001 has changed how it breaks. Kirra Hill, the Kirra Surf Life Saving Club and the big and little groynes are all familiar sights.
Homes and units facing Kirra Beach sit in constant salt-laden onshore winds, so panels with salt mist certification and stainless fixings are a must, along with an easy plan for rinsing the array.
