Going solar in Woolloongabba

Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter.

Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.

Woolloongabba is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Many Woolloongabba homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Woolloongabba: history and local area

Locals called the low, swampy ground One Mile Swamp until the early 1890s. Experts still disagree on what Woolloongabba means, with whirling waters and fight talk place both suggested. A school opened in 1884, the same year as the railway locomotive depot, and trams served the area from 1885 until 1969. In early 1942 the country's first Coca Cola bottling plant was built here.

Cricket fans know it for the Gabba, and the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Ipswich Road is a major employer. Buranda in the south has a shopping village on the old tram depot site plus rail and busway stations. Heritage shop rows and pubs line Stanley Street and Logan Road, including the Norman Hotel, pouring beers since 1890. Population jumped by over 3,000 between 2016 and 2021.

With heritage shopfronts, older houses and newer residential buildings mixed together 3 km from the CBD, roof types vary widely, and flat commercial roofs can suit tilted frames that make the most of the sun.
