Going solar in Kangaroo Point

Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter.

Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.

Kangaroo Point is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Many Kangaroo Point homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Kangaroo Point: history and local area

Turrbal people lived here before the convict settlement cleared the land for crops between 1825 and 1841. Land first sold in December 1843, and surveyor James Warner built the first house the following year. For decades the riverfront was given over to heavy engineering and shipbuilding. The Story Bridge opened in July 1940, and by the 1980s the old industrial edge had turned to homes and recreation.

This peninsula of hard rhyolite rock gives Brisbane its famous Kangaroo Point Cliffs, formed by old lava flows, along with Captain Burke Park beneath the Story Bridge. Ellis Street ranks among the city's steepest hills. High rise towers crowd the northern tip, with lower apartments and Queenslanders further south, and in 2011 close to 79 per cent of residents lived in units. The Holman Street ferry links to the city.

With nearly four in five residents in units, solar decisions here are usually made at the building level, while owners of the remaining Queenslanders should check for shading from nearby towers.
