Going solar in Windsor
Brisbane's northside ranges from the grand old homes of Ascot, Hamilton and Clayfield to family suburbs like Aspley, Chermside and Bracken Ridge and the bayside villages of Sandgate and Shorncliffe.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Windsor is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Many Windsor homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Windsor: history and local area
Land went on sale in 1854, but little happened until Bowen Bridge opened in 1860 and people began calling the district Upper Breakfast Creek. A national school opened on Bowen Bridge Road in 1865. The Shire of Windsor formed in 1887, Queen Victoria's golden jubilee year, borrowing its name from Windsor Castle. It became a town in 1904 and was folded into Greater Brisbane in 1925.
Just north of the city, Windsor is mostly houses, with plenty of older Queenslanders and heritage places like the old shire council chambers. Shops line Lutwyche and Newmarket roads. Windsor station sits on Eildon Road, Downey Park hosts the Brisbane Softball Association, and Northey Street City Farm has been growing food since 1994. Streets near Breakfast Creek went under in the 1974 floods.
Older Queenslanders with tin roofs are usually easy to mount panels on, though heritage character and flood history near Breakfast Creek are worth factoring into where inverters and batteries are placed.
