Solar Panels Herston: local, honest, done right
Solar is a 25-year decision, so the panels, inverter and installation quality matter far more than shaving a few hundred dollars off the quote. RS Energy is a family-run solar company and we design every Herston system around your roof, your shading and your bills.
A typical 6.6kW system in Herston makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. Herston is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter. We look after Herston and the surrounding suburbs of Wilston, Newmarket and Kelvin Grove, so a free on-site measure in 4006 is easy to book.
- Many Herston homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

About Herston
Europeans arrived in the 1850s. Sir Robert Herbert and John Bramston combined their surnames to name their farmhouse Herston, and the suburb kept the name. Churches went up through the 1920s, and trolleybuses ran from 1953 to 1968. When the Royal Children's Hospital closed in 2014, its land became the Herston Quarter, declared a Priority Development Area in 2016.
The eastern side is taken up by a major hospital precinct, including the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and the medical research institute. Ballymore Stadium in the north west is home to rugby union, and Victoria Park offers golf and a heritage clubhouse from 1931. The rest of the suburb is mostly residential. A busway station and Brisbane Metro buses link to the city 2.9 km away.

Solar panels in Herston: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Herston?
Most Herston homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Herston?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Herston?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.
Do you service Herston 4006 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Herston is part of our Inner Brisbane service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Wilston, Newmarket, Kelvin Grove, Spring Hill. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
