Solar panels for Jacobs Well, planned around your home

Whether it is your first system or you are replacing an old one, we size solar for Jacobs Well homes around real usage, not the biggest number we can fit on the roof.

A typical 6.6kW system in Jacobs Well makes about 28.4kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 43kWh. Jacobs Well is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan. From Jacobs Well to nearby Steiglitz and Norwell, we quote every job in person so the price you sign is the price you pay.

  • Being close to the water, Jacobs Well gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Getting to know Jacobs Well

In the late 1800s this was part of Pimpama Island, a farming district cut off in the wet season by lagoons and swamps. The fertile, flood-prone soil grew sugarcane. The local state school ran from 1920 until 3 May 1974. More recently the Calypso Bay canal estate was built, and in February 2020 record rain flooded it.

Jacobs Well sits on the Pimpama River delta where the river meets the southern end of Moreton Bay. Lions Park is the hub, with a sandy beach, an enclosed swimming area, a four-lane boat ramp, a camping ground and the Volunteer Marine Rescue base. Calypso Bay Marina gives boating access to the Broadwater. The community centre in Riesenweber Park gets a fortnightly mobile library visit.

How much does solar cost in Jacobs Well?

Most Jacobs Well homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.

What size solar system do I need in Jacobs Well?

Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.

Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?

Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.

How long does installation take?

Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.

Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Jacobs Well?

Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them. Near the coast we use stainless fixings and corrosion-resistant racking.

Do you service Jacobs Well 4208 and nearby suburbs?

Yes. Jacobs Well is part of our Northern Gold Coast service area in the City of Gold Coast area, and we regularly work in Steiglitz, Norwell, Pimpama, Coomera. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
