Going solar in Jacobs Well
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Jacobs Well is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Being close to the water, Jacobs Well gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Jacobs Well: history and local area
In the late 1800s this was part of Pimpama Island, a farming district cut off in the wet season by lagoons and swamps. The fertile, flood-prone soil grew sugarcane. The local state school ran from 1920 until 3 May 1974. More recently the Calypso Bay canal estate was built, and in February 2020 record rain flooded it.
Jacobs Well sits on the Pimpama River delta where the river meets the southern end of Moreton Bay. Lions Park is the hub, with a sandy beach, an enclosed swimming area, a four-lane boat ramp, a camping ground and the Volunteer Marine Rescue base. Calypso Bay Marina gives boating access to the Broadwater. The community centre in Riesenweber Park gets a fortnightly mobile library visit.
On low delta land that has flooded before, Jacobs Well homes should keep inverters and batteries mounted high and well away from flood-prone ground, and the salty bay air calls for corrosion-resistant fixings.
