Solar panels in Sandgate, installed properly
A family solar company that measures your roof, explains the numbers and installs it right the first time.
Why Sandgate homes choose RS Energy for solar panels
Plenty of companies sell solar on price alone. We sell it on quality, because a system that is designed and installed well keeps paying you back for decades. Every Sandgate quote starts with a free measure of your roof.
A typical 6.6kW system in Sandgate makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. Sandgate is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
Brisbane's northside ranges from the grand old homes of Ascot, Hamilton and Clayfield to family suburbs like Aspley, Chermside and Bracken Ridge and the bayside villages of Sandgate and Shorncliffe. Our solar panels work in Sandgate also covers neighbouring Shorncliffe, Deagon and Brighton, all within about 3km.
- Being close to the water, Sandgate gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.
- Many Sandgate homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Sandgate: a local snapshot
Early British settlers knew this coast as Cabbage Tree Creek, but surveyor James Burnett named it Sandgate after the town in Kent. Land opened up in November 1853 and a seaside village grew. Coaches linked it to Brisbane from 1874, it became a borough in 1880, and the 1882 railway cut the trip to under half an hour. It was a favourite holiday spot before joining Brisbane in 1925.
On Bramble Bay, roughly 20 kilometres north-north-east of the city, Sandgate has Moora Park beach and the Lovers Walk path along to Shorncliffe. Dowse Lagoon sits in the middle of the suburb, with Deagon Wetlands to the west. Brighton Road has a Woolworths and Aldi, and heritage-listed spots include the old post office and town hall. A historical society museum is on Rainbow Street.

Solar panels in Sandgate: questions
Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Sandgate?
Most Sandgate homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Sandgate?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Sandgate?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them. Near the coast we use stainless fixings and corrosion-resistant racking.
Do you service Sandgate 4017 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Sandgate is part of our Brisbane Northside service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Shorncliffe, Deagon, Brighton, Boondall. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
