Going solar in Advancetown
The central Gold Coast takes in the high-rise strip from Broadbeach to Main Beach, the canal homes of Bundall, Benowa and Isle of Capri, and family suburbs like Ashmore, Nerang and Carrara.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Advancetown is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Plenty of Advancetown properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Advancetown: history and local area
Timber cutters came in the 1870s, and David Yuan's sawmill of 1881 marked the start of European settlement. Ernest Belliss opened the Advancetown Hotel in 1905 and gave land for a school, which lent the place its name. The original village disappeared under water when Hinze Dam Stage 1 was finished in 1976. The locality was briefly called Latimer from 1979 before Advancetown returned in 1985.
Advancetown Lake fills much of the 63.6 km² locality, fed by the Nerang River and Little Nerang Creek, and it supplies most of the Gold Coast's water. Hinze Dam has a visitor centre, cafe, picnic grounds, mountain bike and walking trails, plus boat ramps for catch and release fishing. Homes are mostly in the flatter north, on rural residential and grazing land.
Acreage and grazing properties around Advancetown have room for larger arrays or ground mounts, and with homes spread out on rural roads, a battery that can back up pumps and essentials during outages is a practical choice.
