Going solar in Bungalora
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Bungalora is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
- Plenty of Bungalora properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Bungalora: history and local area
Bungalora is one of the smallest localities in Tweed Shire, with only 69 people counted at the 2016 census. Little has been written about its settlement or how it got its name, so the safest description is simply a very small locality within the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, sharing the 2486 postcode with much larger places such as Banora Point and Terranora.
With a population under 100 at the 2016 count, Bungalora is about as small as Tweed Shire localities get. It sits under Tweed Shire Council, votes in the Tweed state electorate and falls within the federal Division of Richmond. Its postcode is shared with bigger suburbs including Banora Point, Terranora and Tweed Heads South, which supply most of the area's shops and schools.
In a locality this small, homes often stand on their own blocks rather than in tight rows, which can make it easier to find an unshaded, north-facing roof plane for panels.
