Going solar in Tygalgah
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Tygalgah is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
- Low-lying pockets of Tygalgah sit inside council flood mapping. Where it matters we mount inverters and batteries above the flood planning level and keep isolators easy to reach.
- Plenty of Tygalgah properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Tygalgah: history and local area
Very little has been published about Tygalgah's past, including how it was settled or where its name comes from. What is on record is that it is a small locality within Tweed Shire, in north-eastern New South Wales, sharing the 2484 postcode with South Murwillumbah and Dunbible.
Tygalgah is tiny, with just 116 residents at the 2021 census and slightly more men than women. Like Murwillumbah and Uki, it sits in the Lismore state electorate rather than Tweed, while federally it belongs to the Division of Richmond along with the rest of the shire.
In a small rural locality, homes often have room to choose the best unshaded roof face or even a ground mount, and a battery can help ride through outages on longer rural power lines.
