Deception Bay is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Being close to the water, Deception Bay gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Deception Bay: history and local area

John Oxley gave the bay its name in 1823. He first took it for a river, then renamed it once he realised how shallow it was. Dairies and farms once covered the land, and a provisional school opened as early as 1892. Most of those big parcels were later cut up for housing. The suburb's fortunes lifted after 2001 with a new police station and a property boom.

Sitting in the south east corner of its namesake bay, between the Redcliffe Peninsula and Bribie Island, the suburb has a long foreshore path and conservation parks at both ends. The bay is part of the Moreton Bay Ramsar wetland. The heritage listed Sea Baths on Captain Cook Parade are a local landmark. Eight schools, from state primaries to Arethusa College, are spread across the suburb, and buses link to Rothwell station.

Most homes here are low density houses on flat, subdivided farmland, which tends to mean simple roofs with clear sky. Bayside streets should still use corrosion resistant fixings to handle the salt air.
