Narangba: history and local area
Narangba was once part of a district known as Stoney Creek, and its station started life as Sideling Creek before taking the current name, which may mean small place or small ridge. Only 58 people lived here in 1911. The state school opened in 1910, but real change came later: from under 1,000 residents in 1991 the area passed 20,000 by 2021.
Rural roots have given way to a large residential suburb on Brisbane's northern fringe, crossed by both the Bruce Highway and the North Coast line. The station got an upgrade in 2014. Sport is well catered for, with baseball and softball diamonds, soccer fields used by Narangba Eagles, rugby at Duncombe Park, a skate park and a dog park. Four state schools serve local families.
Narangba mixes newer estate homes with larger semi rural lots, so system design can range from a compact north facing roof array to a bigger setup on a shed or acreage block.
