Going solar in Jimboomba

Logan blends established suburbs such as Springwood, Shailer Park and Browns Plains with new communities at Yarrabilba, Park Ridge and Logan Reserve, plus acreage through Jimboomba, Greenbank and Munruben.

Logan mixes established family suburbs, fast-growing estates like Yarrabilba and Park Ridge, and acreage around Jimboomba and Greenbank. Big households and big air conditioning loads make solar and batteries pay back quickly here.

Jimboomba is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Plenty of Jimboomba properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Jimboomba: history and local area

First spelled Gimboomba, the name comes from a Gugingin word meaning place of loud thunder and little rain. Jimboomba began as a grazing run leased from 1845, carrying sheep and later cattle. The Beaudesert line brought a station in 1888, since closed, and a provisional school followed around 1890. It joined Logan City in 2008, and in 2017 Glenlogan and Riverbend were split off, which is why the head count dropped sharply.

The Logan River forms the western edge, crossed only by Payne Bridge on Cusack Lane, and the Mount Lindesay Highway runs through town. Land is now almost all residential. There is a state primary, Emmaus College and Hills International College, plus a council library on Honora Street. Jimboomba falls within the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area, which is planned to take up to 150,000 more people over the coming decades.

Where the Mount Lindesay Highway corridor gives way to bigger blocks, there is often room for a larger array than a city lot allows, which suits households running air conditioning through long summer afternoons.
