Going solar in Kurwongbah

North Brisbane and Moreton Bay run from Albany Creek and Strathpine through North Lakes and Narangba to Caboolture and Bribie Island, taking in the Redcliffe Peninsula and acreage around Samford and Dayboro.

Kurwongbah is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Plenty of Kurwongbah properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Kurwongbah: history and local area

The story here is really about water. Sideling Creek Dam was commissioned in 1957, and the following year a local newspaper competition picked the name Kurwongbah, said to be the Kabi word for the creek and to mean black duck. The local state school opened in 1986, although it actually sits over the boundary in Petrie.

Covering more than 42 square kilometres but home to only about 1,550 people, Kurwongbah is a rural locality. Lake Kurwongbah fills the south east, and the Lakeside Park motor racing circuit sits on its shore. A large Holcim quarry occupies the south, with its buffer land returned to bushland. Dayboro Road traces the south western edge, while the railway roughly marks the east.

Rural blocks around the lake often have room for a ground mounted array and sheds with big roof areas, which gives more freedom to face panels north and grow the system over time.
