Going solar in Merrimac
The southern Gold Coast stretches from Coolangatta and the beaches of Palm Beach and Burleigh back to Robina, Mudgeeraba and the valleys of Currumbin and Tallebudgera, with everything from beachfront units to acreage.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Merrimac is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Merrimac: history and local area
Thomas Blacket Stephens bought 6,980 acres here in 1873, and his son William and the family dug drains through the swampy ground so it could carry dairy cows, sheep, cattle and sugarcane. Ann Stephens gave the property its name, though nobody is sure why. In 1908 a Victorian syndicate bought the land and carved it into small farms, sold as the Stephens Estate. A state school followed on 25 July 1917.
Merrimac lies on floodplain country in the middle of the city, about 10 km south-west of Surfers Paradise and 27 km from Tweed Heads. The old drainage network survives as the heritage-listed Merrimac Drains Historic Landscape, also called The Great Swamp. Schools are a big feature, with All Saints Anglican School, St Michael's College, Merrimac State School and Star of the Sea School, which opened in 2022.
Because Merrimac sits on low floodplain land, it pays to mount inverters and battery units well above ground level and away from spots that collect water, which is a simple step that protects the gear long term.
