Going solar in Norwell
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Norwell is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Plenty of Norwell properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Norwell: history and local area
The name comes from the Norwell sugar plantation, owned by William Pidd in the 1870s, when this was part of the cane district known as Pimpama Island. A state school ran from 1910 until 1971. Church life was strong: an Apostolic congregation met here from 1914 and put up a new church in 1963 to 1964, while St John's Lutheran Church opened in 1914 and was pulled down in 1980.
Sitting in the far north of the Gold Coast, Norwell lies between Jacobs Well, Pimpama and Ormeau, with Gilberton and Woongoolba above it. It is a working landscape rather than a suburb. The Holden Driving Centre is here, as is Heck Field, where the Gold Coast Sport Flying Club trains pilots. The Jacobs Well Environmental Education Centre runs outdoor learning, and the Apostolic Church stands on Norwell Road.
Farm sheds and rural homes on wide, flat blocks rarely have shading problems, so roof space is usually the main limit, and large shed roofs can carry a bigger system than the house alone.
