Going solar in Coomera
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Coomera is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Newer homes in Coomera usually have clean, unshaded roofs and modern switchboards, which keeps installs quick. Estate covenants rarely restrict solar, but we check before we quote.

Coomera: history and local area
The suburb takes its name from the Coomera River, which comes from an Indigenous word for a type of wattle. A provisional school started in 1873 and a Wesleyan Methodist church in 1874, and the river was bridged in 1930. Dreamworld opened in 1981, while Koala Town wildlife park came and went before its site was turned into housing. Westfield Coomera arrived in 2018.
Coomera sits beside the Pacific Motorway with the Coomera River on its southern edge, just in from the hinterland. Dreamworld and Westfield Coomera draw visitors, and the Coomera Sport and Leisure Centre hosted gymnastics and netball finals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Several schools have opened since 2011, including Picnic Creek State School, St Joseph's College and Foxwell State Secondary College.
Coomera's newer estates tend to have modern roofs with few shading problems, and families with high evening loads from cooling and appliances often find a battery helps them use more of what the panels produce.
