Going solar in Ormeau
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Ormeau is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Ormeau: history and local area
Sugar planter Major Alexander Jenyns Boyd called his 1860s estate Ormeau House, using the French word for a young elm, and the district kept the name. The school that opened as Podinga Provisional in 1878 took the Ormeau name in 1892. The northern neighbourhood of Cupania was gazetted in 1991, and most of today's schools opened between 2001 and 2011.
On the northern edge of the Gold Coast, Ormeau runs from Yatala down to the Pimpama River. Trains stop at Ormeau station on the Gold Coast line. Sport is well represented, with the Ormeau Shearers in rugby league, the Bulldogs in AFL with two ovals added in 2014, and the All Stars in soccer. Ormeau Oval, Norfolk Park and schools such as Ormeau Woods State High serve families.
Ormeau has seen plenty of newer housing developments, and modern family homes with open roofs and big cooling loads are well suited to a solar system sized for the evening, with a battery to bridge the gap.
