Going solar in Paddington

Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter.

Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.

Paddington is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Many Paddington homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Paddington: history and local area

Turrbal people lived in this valley long before British settlers arrived in the 1850s and called it Ti-Tree Flats. Farmer B. Clay renamed it after his London birthplace, and his farm was carved up in 1864, five years after the first sale of 55 lots. A building boom hit in the 1880s, electric trams arrived in 1897, and neighbouring Rosalie was merged in during 1975.

Sitting in the foothills of Mount Coot-tha, Paddington is all peaks and gullies, with Ithaca Creek winding toward the river. Archibald's Hill is the high point, crowned by the 1927 water tower. Latrobe Terrace has the Paddington Antique Centre and Paddington Central. Government House is on Fernberg Road. Small blocks are filled with workers' cottages and Queenslanders under corrugated iron, about 4.6 km from the CBD.

Corrugated iron roofs on cottages and Queenslanders take panels easily, but steep hillside blocks and gullies mean one house can get full sun while the next sits in shade, so orientation is worth checking.
