Going solar in Kelvin Grove
Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Kelvin Grove is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Many Kelvin Grove homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Kelvin Grove: history and local area
Once part of the Three Mile Scrub, the area got its name from Dr Joseph Bancroft, who built a house here in 1865 and named it after Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow. A school opened on Kelvin Grove Road in 1875, and electric trams ran from 1901 until 1968. The army's Gona Barracks closed in 1998, and the site reopened as the Kelvin Grove Urban Village in 2003.
Enoggera Creek marks the northern edge, and its bikeway hosts the Kelvin Grove parkrun. The QUT campus and the Roundhouse Theatre, home of La Boite, bring students and theatre goers. Kelvin Grove State College covers Prep to Year 12. Tree lined streets mix traditional Queenslanders, post war workers' cottages and modern apartments, with commercial and light industrial uses along Kelvin Grove Road.
Older Queenslanders and post war cottages usually have simple pitched roofs that suit panels well, though the tree lined streets can mean trimming or careful placement to dodge afternoon shade.
