Going solar in Petrie Terrace

Inner Brisbane is full of character: Queenslanders, workers cottages and townhouses on small lots in places like Paddington, West End, New Farm and Bulimba, where neat installs and careful panel layout matter.

Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.

Petrie Terrace is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Many Petrie Terrace homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Petrie Terrace: history and local area

The name comes from Petrie Road, honouring the pioneering family led by Andrew Petrie. Residents pushed for a school in 1865, and Petrie Terrace State School opened in 1868. The Lord Alfred Hotel started pouring on Caxton Street in 1870, and Baroona Hall went up in 1883 and 1884. The old police depot was reborn as The Barracks retail precinct in 2007 and 2008.

At only 0.3 square kilometres, Petrie Terrace is tiny, sitting about 2.5 km by road from the GPO. Caxton Street is the main drawcard and hosts a seafood and wine festival every Labour Day weekend since 1994. Brisbane Arts Theatre opened in 1961. Heritage Victorian cottages and shop houses survive, and The Barracks has a walkway to Roma Street station.

Victorian era cottages on tight inner city lots have limited roof space, so efficient high output panels and a careful layout around heritage features usually make the most of what is available.
