Going solar in Pallara
Brisbane's southside covers older post-war suburbs like Annerley, Moorooka and Holland Park, the busy family areas around Sunnybank, Mansfield and Carindale, and newer pockets at Pallara and Forest Lake.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Pallara is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Newer homes in Pallara usually have clean, unshaded roofs and modern switchboards, which keeps installs quick. Estate covenants rarely restrict solar, but we check before we quote.

Pallara: history and local area
For a long time Pallara was lightly developed. Ritchie Road State School opened in August 1959 and the suburb was formally established in 1971, with a name taken from an Aboriginal word for flat land, spelt with a single l. In 1997 Pallara Parklands opened on the site of a rehabilitated rubbish dump, turning old waste ground into public open space.
Around 3,860 people now live here, 24.3 km south of the CBD by road. Pallara State School on Ritchie Road is the hub, with more than 860 students enrolled in 2021. Green space includes Blunder Creek Reserve along with parks on Brookbent, Paradise and Sweets roads. Older students head to high schools in Forest Lake, Durack or Calamvale, as there is no secondary school locally.
True to its name, Pallara is largely flat land, and newer homes built on open blocks tend to have unshaded roofs that are easy to fit with a north and west facing array for afternoon cooling.
