Going solar in Seventeen Mile Rocks
Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Seventeen Mile Rocks is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Seventeen Mile Rocks: history and local area
On 3 December 1823 John Oxley noted rocks in the river 17 miles from its mouth, and the name stuck. A Bible Christian chapel opened in 1869 and a school around 1874. Workers removed the last of the rocks between 1960 and 1966 to widen the channel. The Western Drive-In ran from 1966 to 1988 before housing took its place.
Once mainly industrial, the suburb now has estates like Edenbrooke and Verandah, some with their own lakes and walking tracks, while industry remains in the north-west and south-west. Roughly 2,700 people live here. The Brisbane River lines the north-east, and Rocks Riverside Park, one of the city's biggest riverside parks, has a flying fox, playing fields and bike paths.
Newer estate homes generally have modern roofs and wiring that make solar and battery installs straightforward, while properties near the river or Jindalee Creek should keep equipment above likely flood levels.
