Going solar in Sherwood
Brisbane's southside covers older post-war suburbs like Annerley, Moorooka and Holland Park, the busy family areas around Sunnybank, Mansfield and Carindale, and newer pockets at Pallara and Forest Lake.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Sherwood is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Many Sherwood homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Sherwood: history and local area
West Oxley State School opened in 1867 and took the Sherwood name in 1878. Estate blocks were auctioned in 1885 and 1888, more sites near the station followed in 1928, and the Shire of Sherwood existed from 1903 until it joined Brisbane in 1925. Floods have left their mark more than once, most notably in 1931, 2011 and 2022.
Its western side meets the Brisbane River, where the Sherwood Arboretum has been a riverside garden since the 1920s. Oxley Creek touches the eastern end. Low and medium density homes line the streets, with a retail strip on Sherwood Road and trains on the Ipswich and Springfield lines. Hives Park and several smaller parks, plenty of heritage sites and a well attended state school are close by.
Riverside streets that flooded in 2011 and 2022 are a reminder to mount batteries and inverters high, and a battery with backup can keep the fridge and lights on during storm outages.
