Going solar in Sorrento
The central Gold Coast takes in the high-rise strip from Broadbeach to Main Beach, the canal homes of Bundall, Benowa and Isle of Capri, and family suburbs like Ashmore, Nerang and Carrara.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Sorrento is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Sorrento: history and local area
Sorrento is not a stand-alone suburb but a neighbourhood in the south of Bundall. It took its name from a canal development built along the Nerang River, which created 800 waterfront blocks and another 400 dry blocks set back from the water. Before the canals, this side of the river was sugarcane country from 1862 and later dairy land.
Water is never far away in Sorrento, which sits where the Nerang River curves around the south of Bundall. Two of every three blocks in the original estate were on the water. Surfers Paradise is just a few kilometres to the east, and Southport Racecourse and the Bundall business district are a short drive north.
Waterfront blocks in Sorrento tend to be open to the sun across the canal, which suits panels, but the moist river air means corrosion-rated mounting and careful placement of inverters and batteries are worth getting right.
