Going solar in Chevron Island
The central Gold Coast takes in the high-rise strip from Broadbeach to Main Beach, the canal homes of Bundall, Benowa and Isle of Capri, and family suburbs like Ashmore, Nerang and Carrara.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Chevron Island is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Chevron Island: history and local area
Before the canal era this was Goat Island, a natural island in the Nerang River where a cattle farm ran alongside a large mob of goats. It was a landing for barges and ferries crossing to Cavill Avenue. In the 1950s sand fill was pumped in and the island was separated from what is now the HOTA site, as river dredging opened channels and created land for housing.
Chevron Island is a medium density residential pocket sitting no more than 2 metres above mean high tide. Thomas Drive runs through it, and two road bridges connect it to Bundall and Southport on one side and the Surfers Paradise strip on the other. Since 2020 the 130 metre HOTA Green Bridge has carried walkers and cyclists across, and little Cronin Island is reached from here.
Many Chevron Island homes are units and townhouses on low river land, so solar often needs body corporate approval, and any inverter or battery should be mounted well clear of the ground.
