Going solar in Alberton
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Alberton is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Plenty of Alberton properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Alberton: history and local area
German immigrants started settling here in 1863. The district has gone by several names: Wobbomerijee in the Aboriginal language, then Elkana after the 1869 Lutheran church, before it was named for Prince Albert. The Ageston sugar plantation and mill ran from 1866 into the 1890s, and a ferry crossed the Logan River from 1870 until 1948. The Gem Hotel burned in 1933 and was rebuilt that same year.
Two rivers frame Alberton, the Logan to the north and the Albert to the west. It is still a rural place, given over to sugar cane and prawn farms. St Peter's Lutheran Church, consecrated in 1887, stands near the local cemetery. Cricketers play at Zipf Park, and there is a council boat ramp on the Logan. Alberton Park, August Burow Park and Woolshed Parklands round out the green spaces.
Cane and prawn farms run pumps and aerators for long hours, so daytime solar generation lines up well with their power use, and river-flat sites should keep electrical gear above flood height.
