Going solar in Bogangar
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Bogangar is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
- Being close to the water, Bogangar gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Bogangar: history and local area
Nobody is quite sure where the name Bogangar comes from. Suggestions include an Aboriginal term for 'a place of many pippies', the word bobingah meaning a highland, or a phrase describing grass trees along a ridge, possibly Norries Headland. The Ngandowal and Minyungbal-speaking Bundjalung people are the traditional owners, and Bogangar Public School opened on 16 February 2004.
About 3,300 people lived in Bogangar in 2021. The locality takes in Cudgen Lake and Norries Headland and meets the Pacific Ocean on its eastern side. Many locals simply call the whole area Cabarita Beach. It is about 21 km south of Tweed Heads and sits in the Tweed state electorate and the federal Division of Richmond.
Between Cudgen Lake and the ocean, homes here deal with humid, salty air, which makes corrosion-rated hardware and a well-ventilated, shaded spot for the inverter worth planning for.
