Bray Park: history and local area
Thomas Nathaniel Bray set up a dairy on Gympie Road in 1900, and his son John took it over. John Sanders Bray went on to serve as a Pine Rivers Shire councillor from 1946 and as shire chairman from 1950 to 1973, and the suburb was named in his honour in April 1970. Schools followed quickly, from Bray Park State School in 1973 to Genesis Christian College in 1991.
Four Mile Creek forms the southern edge, the North Coast railway the eastern one. Les Hughes Sporting Complex on Francis Road caters for rugby league, rugby union, baseball, netball and basketball, plus a skate park. Nine named parks are dotted around, including John Bray Park. Four schools cover primary to Year 12, and the nearest train stations are Strathpine's Bray Park station and Lawnton.
Homes built from the 1970s onward on standard suburban blocks generally have clear roofs, and sport-heavy family routines often push usage into the evening, where a battery helps.
