Warner: history and local area
Potato paddocks once covered this western edge of Strathpine. The name honours James Warner, an early civilian surveyor, and a small Warner State School ran from 1876 until around 1939. Houses only arrived in 1995, when an old drive-in theatre site was turned into an estate. A decade later, Warner Lakes launched with around 1,100 home sites planned.
Lake Samsonvale and the North Pine Dam sit to the north-west. Warner is mainly newer housing estates, with parks such as Banksia Park, John Hill Park and Frank Nichols Reserve spread between them. There are no schools, shopping centres or train stations inside the suburb, so neighbouring areas fill those gaps. A mobile library calls at the Pendicup Community Centre on Samsonvale Road.
Homes built since 1995 in estates like Warner Lakes usually have modern roofs with few obstructions, which makes them straightforward to fit with a full array and battery.
