Going solar in Southport
The central Gold Coast takes in the high-rise strip from Broadbeach to Main Beach, the canal homes of Bundall, Benowa and Isle of Capri, and family suburbs like Ashmore, Nerang and Carrara.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Southport is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Being close to the water, Southport gets salt-laden sea breezes. We use corrosion-resistant racking, stainless fixings and panels and inverters rated for coastal sites, and we design to the local wind loading.

Southport: history and local area
Surveyors laid out the town in 1874 and settled on the name a year later, because it was then the southernmost port in colonial Queensland. Before that it was Nerang Creek Heads. Timber milling, sugar and grazing kept it going, a pier went in by 1883 and the railway from Beenleigh arrived in 1889. By 1901 about 1,230 people lived here, and the Jubilee Bridge to Main Beach replaced the ferry in 1925.
Southport is the Gold Coast's central business district, with the biggest pool of office space in the city and a cluster of new towers. The Nerang River runs along the south-east edge into the Broadwater, where the Broadwater Parklands and the pier draw crowds. Australia Fair, Griffith University, Gold Coast University Hospital and seven G:link stations all sit within its 15.6 km².
Southport mixes towers, older houses near the Broadwater and suburban streets around Musgrave Hill, so the right setup differs: body corporate projects for units, corrosion-aware fixings near the water and standard roof systems further inland.
