Going solar in Upper Coomera
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Upper Coomera is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Newer homes in Upper Coomera usually have clean, unshaded roofs and modern switchboards, which keeps installs quick. Estate covenants rarely restrict solar, but we check before we quote.

Upper Coomera: history and local area
Surveyors marked out land along the Coomera River in 1864, setting aside 15,000 acres for farming, and William Alfred Binstead took up the first block near a river ford in 1865. The Otmoor plantation made the district's first refined sugar in 1870. A cemetery followed in 1885, an Anglican church in 1889 and a School of Arts in 1896. The Coomera name traces to kumera, a Yugambeh word for a wattle.
Once farm country, Upper Coomera is now heavily built up, with large housing estates and commercial centres west of the Pacific Motorway. More than 27,000 people lived here in 2021. Shopping is spread across Coomera City Centre, Coomera Grand and The Hub, and the community centre opened in 2013 with a pool and library. Schools include Upper Coomera State College and Coomera Anglican College.
Newer homes in Upper Coomera's large estates often have unshaded roofs, and households with heavy air conditioning use tend to get the most from pairing panels with a home battery.
