Going solar in Gaythorne
Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Gaythorne is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

Gaythorne: history and local area
Gaythorne takes its name from a property belonging to Howard Bliss. Housing lots in the Rangeview Estate were auctioned in 1919, while the area was still counted as Enoggera, with more land re-offered in 1921 and 170 lots of Bellevue Park Estate in 1924. A Presbyterian church went up in 1915. The suburb was split off from Enoggera in the late 1990s.
Just 1.1 square kilometres, Gaythorne sits on the slopes of Enoggera Hill with Kedron Brook along its northern edge. About 3,160 people live in its leafy, mostly Queenslander streets, roughly 7 km from the city. The station on the Ferny Grove line is the local hub, and Enoggera Barracks lies next door. School-age kids travel to Mitchelton, Enoggera or Everton Park.
Queenslanders with corrugated iron roofs are well suited to rooftop panels, though homes on the slope of Enoggera Hill can lose late sun depending on aspect, so placement should be planned with real shade in mind.
