Solar panels in Kalinga, installed properly
A family solar company that measures your roof, explains the numbers and installs it right the first time.
Why Kalinga homes choose RS Energy for solar panels
Plenty of companies sell solar on price alone. We sell it on quality, because a system that is designed and installed well keeps paying you back for decades. Every Kalinga quote starts with a free measure of your roof.
A typical 6.6kW system in Kalinga makes about 27.7kWh a day on average across the year, while a 10kW system makes about 42kWh. Kalinga is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
Brisbane's northside ranges from the grand old homes of Ascot, Hamilton and Clayfield to family suburbs like Aspley, Chermside and Bracken Ridge and the bayside villages of Sandgate and Shorncliffe. Our solar panels work in Kalinga also covers neighbouring Clayfield, Nundah and Wooloowin, all within about 1km.
- Many Kalinga homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Kalinga: a local snapshot
The name comes from Ngalinnga, probably a Turrbal word meaning belonging to us. Justice Alfred Lutwyche once owned this land, and his home, Kedron Lodge, still stands and is heritage-listed. The Kedron Park Estate went to auction in October 1888. Trams ran here from 1927 to 1962, and the war memorial gates at Kalinga Park opened in 1920. It only became its own suburb, split from Wooloowin, in 2015.
Flat land about 10 metres above sea level, with Kedron Brook, a bikeway and footbridges along the north. The Airport Link tunnel runs underneath without you knowing. Homes are a mix of small apartment blocks and stand-alone houses, some of them older Queenslanders. Kalinga Park is the big green space, and the bowls club sits in Melrose Park.

Still unsure? Talk to us directly. You will speak with the people who do the work.
Call 0449 942 735How much does solar cost in Kalinga?
Most Kalinga homes pay between $4,800 and $7,000 for a quality 6.6kW system and $7,400 to $11,000 for 10kW, after the federal rebate. We give you a fixed price after a free on-site measure, so there are no surprises on install day.
What size solar system do I need in Kalinga?
Look at your bill. Most families using 20 to 30kWh a day suit 6.6kW to 10kW. If you run pool pumps, ducted air or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10kW to 13kW usually makes more sense. Energex export limits also shape the right inverter size.
Is solar still worth it with low feed-in tariffs?
Yes, if the system is sized for self-use. Every kWh you use from your panels saves you the full retail rate, which is far more than the few cents you get for exporting. Running dishwashers, pool pumps and hot water in the middle of the day makes a big difference, and a battery stretches it into the evening.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in a single day. We book the install once your network approval comes back, then arrange the meter change with your retailer.
Do you install solar on tile, tin and Klip-Lok roofs in Kalinga?
Yes. We install on concrete and terracotta tiles, corrugated iron, Colorbond and Klip-Lok, with tilt frames where a flat roof needs them.
Do you service Kalinga 4030 and nearby suburbs?
Yes. Kalinga is part of our Brisbane Northside service area in the Brisbane City Council area, and we regularly work in Clayfield, Nundah, Wooloowin, Wavell Heights. Call 0449 942 735 or request a quote online and we will reply within 24 hours.
