Going solar in Kingsholme

The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.

Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.

Kingsholme is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Plenty of Kingsholme properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Kingsholme: history and local area

Irish settler James Murtha, from County Cork, gave Kingsholme its name around 1869 when he named his property. The Thomson family arrived from Scotland in 1889. Early farms grew bananas, sugar cane and arrowroot, and there was some dairying and timber milling too. Over time much of that farmland has been carved into smaller blocks, which is how most residents live today.

The Darlington Range runs along the western edge, giving Kingsholme a hilly, green backdrop, while a short stretch of the north-east boundary touches the Pacific Motorway. Bushland reserves are everywhere: Rocky Creek Conservation Area, Upper Ormeau Conservation Area and The Grange Environmental Park are a few. Ormeau Hill District Sports Park covers local sport, and the Ormeau Rural Fire Station sits on Upper Ormeau Road. Schools are in nearby Pimpama, Cedar Creek and Ormeau.

Subdivided farm blocks below the Darlington Range often have room to spare but also tall trees nearby, so a proper shade check matters, and rural fire risk is a good reason to think about battery backup.
