Going solar in Moggill
Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Moggill is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Plenty of Moggill properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Moggill: history and local area
John Oxley came ashore near Priors Pocket in 1823, and paddle steamers were running to Ipswich by 1846. The name is thought to come from magil, a Yuggera word for water dragon. A township grew near today's school, which opened in 1866, a year after the cemetery. A blue metal quarry started in 1886, the area was split into three suburbs in 1973, and pineapple farms were subdivided after 2004.
Three sides of Moggill are wrapped by the Brisbane River, including Cockatoo and Redbank reaches, and the tolled cable ferry still carries cars across. Around 5,000 people live here, 22.3 km south-west of the CBD. Housing ranges from new estates on lots of about 700 square metres to acreage and a few working farms. Westaway Park and the ferry reserve are local green spaces.
New 700 square metre estate lots usually have clean, modern roofs for a quick install, while acreage properties may have room for a ground-mounted array and higher daytime loads from pumps and sheds.
