Going solar in Mooball
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Mooball is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
- Plenty of Mooball properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Mooball: history and local area
Mooball's name comes from the Bandjalung-Yugambeh word mobool, which has been translated as lawyer vine, a lagoon or big swamp, or even bowels. The town was first spelt Moball. It sits on Bundjalung country in Tweed Shire, and in March 2012 the locals declared it free of plastic bags.
Cow print is the theme here, from the Moo Moo Roadhouse to the painted electricity poles, and it draws plenty of passing tourists. Across Tweed Valley Way stands the Big Motorcycle, a three-metre replica of the Yamaha YZR500 Wayne Rainey rode in 1993. The Northern Rivers Rail Trail passes through town, and Mooball National Park is nearby.
In a highway town with a roadhouse and tourist trade, daytime business loads like refrigeration and cooking line up well with solar output, and nearby homes get the same full days of sun.
