Going solar in Stokers Siding
The Tweed runs from the border at Tweed Heads down the coast to Pottsville and inland along the river to Murwillumbah and Uki, a mix of beach houses, river-flat towns and hinterland acreage.
From the river towns around Murwillumbah to the beach suburbs of Kingscliff, Cabarita and Pottsville, the Tweed sits on the NSW side of the border, so it runs on Essential Energy's network and NSW energy rules.
Stokers Siding is on Essential Energy's network, so your system is designed to Essential Energy's connection rules (typically a 5kW export limit) and NSW feed-in tariffs. We handle the network application for you.
- Plenty of Stokers Siding properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Stokers Siding: history and local area
Joseph Stoker bought 600 acres here in 1882, when the area was still known as Dunbible Creek, after the Robertson Land Acts had opened up NSW farmland. The village was first called Dunbible Siding and later renamed in his honour. It grew once the railway to Murwillumbah arrived, but the station closed in 1974 amid state budget cuts.
Stokers Siding sits near the Burringbar Range, with Mount Warning not far away. The Northern Rivers Rail Trail now passes through the village, and the area is known for its strong arts community. At the 2016 census it had 663 residents. It falls within the Tweed state electorate and the federal Division of Richmond.
Range country near Mount Warning means some homes sit in the shadow of hills or tall trees for part of the day, so a proper shading assessment should come before choosing panel layout or system size.
