Going solar in Rochedale
Brisbane's southside covers older post-war suburbs like Annerley, Moorooka and Holland Park, the busy family areas around Sunnybank, Mansfield and Carindale, and newer pockets at Pallara and Forest Lake.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Rochedale is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Newer homes in Rochedale usually have clean, unshaded roofs and modern switchboards, which keeps installs quick. Estate covenants rarely restrict solar, but we check before we quote.

Rochedale: history and local area
The Roche family came out from Ireland in 1860, started farming in 1865 and built a homestead called Rochedale in 1868, which gave the suburb its name. The state school opened in 1931 and a scout group formed in 1956. St Peter's Catholic Primary (1976), Redeemer Lutheran College (1980) and Rochedale State High (1983) followed.
At 15 square kilometres it is a large suburb for Brisbane, around 19 km south-east of the CBD by road. The Brisbane Metro electric bus depot near the busway carries a 1 MW solar system on its 10 hectares, and the Rochedale waste facility has generated electricity from waste since 2004. Native Fern Gardens on Miles Platting Road is heritage listed.
The Metro bus depot's 1 MW array shows how well this area's roofs catch the sun, and the same open conditions suit household systems sized for family homes with daytime cooling loads.
