Going solar in Grange
Brisbane's west takes in leafy riverside suburbs like Indooroopilly, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, the Centenary suburbs, and hillier, tree-lined streets around The Gap, Ashgrove and Ferny Grove where shading needs careful planning.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Grange is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Many Grange homes are character Queenslanders and older workers cottages with corrugated iron roofs. Tin roofs are quick to mount on, and we keep conduit runs neat and out of sight on heritage-style facades.

Grange: history and local area
A tannery and fellmongery were working the land in the 1860s. Suburban life started in 1903 when T. K. Peate's property was carved up as the Grange Estate, and the name likely traces back to an Old English word for granary. Trams reached the area in July 1928, and the Valleys Diehards have played at Emerson Park since 1971.
Kedron Brook runs along the northern side, and The Pinnacle rises to 57 metres in the west. About 4,600 people live on 1.8 square kilometres, around 5 km north of the city. Despite the name, Wilston State School is actually here, and it is heritage listed. The library on Evelyn Street dates from 1979, and Lanham Park is home to Grange Thistle and the bowls club.
Homes near Kedron Brook may sit lower and closer to the waterway, so battery placement deserves thought. Up toward The Pinnacle, elevated roofs generally receive good sun with less overshadowing.
