Going solar in Yeerongpilly

Brisbane's southside covers older post-war suburbs like Annerley, Moorooka and Holland Park, the busy family areas around Sunnybank, Mansfield and Carindale, and newer pockets at Pallara and Forest Lake.

Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.

Yeerongpilly is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.

  • Low-lying pockets of Yeerongpilly sit inside council flood mapping. Where it matters we mount inverters and batteries above the flood planning level and keep isolators easy to reach.

Yeerongpilly: history and local area

Timber cutters working the old Boggo district supplied Brisbane from here. Land went up for auction in waves: Lathorn Estate in 1885, Ortive in 1887 and Grand View in 1890, sold on their river and mountain views. Brisbane Golf Club set up in 1896, and from 1909 to 2011 the state's Animal Research Institute ran beside Fairfield Road. Thomas Petrie said the name meant "rain coming".

Small at under two square kilometres, the suburb touches the Brisbane River on the north and Oxley Creek on the west. The 36-hole Brisbane Golf Club takes up a good chunk of it, and its clubhouse is heritage listed, as are the old research institute buildings. Yeerongpilly station links to the city, Beenleigh and Ferny Grove, while families head to Yeronga for school.

Older character homes like the heritage-listed houses on Grosvenor and Tees Streets often have complex roof lines, so panel layout needs planning, and a battery can be tucked away neatly without spoiling the street view.
