Going solar in Rocklea
Brisbane's southside covers older post-war suburbs like Annerley, Moorooka and Holland Park, the busy family areas around Sunnybank, Mansfield and Carindale, and newer pockets at Pallara and Forest Lake.
Brisbane covers everything from Queenslanders with tin roofs and tight inner-city lots to big brick homes in the southern and western suburbs. Every roof is different, which is why we measure and design each one on site.
Rocklea is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Low-lying pockets of Rocklea sit inside council flood mapping. Where it matters we mount inverters and batteries above the flood planning level and keep isolators easy to reach.

Rocklea: history and local area
Rocky Waterholes Creek was the original name, swapped in 1884 when the railway opened for the shorter Rocklea, after a town in Dorset. The state school opened in 1885 and land auctions ran into the 1920s. A munitions works opened in 1941 and switched to engine overhauls in 1943, a railway factory arrived in 1949, and Brisbane Markets opened in August 1964.
Mostly industrial land, with many transport firms drawn by nearby Archerfield Airport, plus DuluxGroup's main paint plant and Brisbane Markets on Sherwood Road. Oxley Creek runs along the west, and the low-lying parts flooded badly in 1974 and again in 2010 to 2011. The 150 hectare Archerfield Wetlands are shared with neighbouring suburbs, and the old harness racing track held its final race in 2009.
Low-lying homes here flooded in 1974 and 2011, so batteries and inverters are best mounted well above known flood levels, ideally on an upper wall or a raised platform.
