Going solar in Guanaba
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest growing parts of Queensland, from the canals of Runaway Bay and Hope Island to new estates in Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau and semi-rural blocks around Wongawallan.
Over half of Gold Coast houses already have rooftop solar, so a lot of our work here is batteries, upgrades and fixing tired systems, alongside new installs in growth areas like Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau.
Guanaba is on the Energex network. Most homes can export up to 5kW per phase on a standard connection, and newer dynamic connections allow more. We size your inverter to get the most from those limits and lodge the Energex application for you.
- Plenty of Guanaba properties are on acreage, which opens up ground-mounted arrays, sheds and larger systems. Rural feeders also see more outages, so battery backup is popular here.

Guanaba: history and local area
A small state school opened here around 1930 in a building carted over from Carrara State School, though it only lasted until about 1942. In 1974 Guanaba became home to the first polo club on the Gold Coast, and that property was sold in 2019 to become a private luxury resort. Film buffs may know that a set for the fictional town of Ambrose was built off Hollindale Road in 2005 for House of Wax.
Guanaba is semi-rural, with small acreage blocks and a strong horse-riding community. The Coomera River runs along the eastern edge, and a western section falls within Tamborine National Park. With 852 residents spread over 22.1 square kilometres, it stays quiet and spacious. There is no school in the locality, so families head to neighbouring areas for classes, shops and services.
Acreage and equestrian properties often run stables, pumps and sheds, and the extra land can make a ground-mounted array or a separate shed system worth looking at when the house roof is small or shaded.
